Hi, I’m Mateo Peña Doll, a mechanical engineer specializing in precision machine design and electric powertrains. I’ve built hardware across a range of industries, from 3D printing to marine propulsion, and I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
Right now, through my company Doll Motors LLC, I design and test electric powertrains for boats, with a focus on hydrofoiling vessels. I handle everything from drivetrain and gearbox design to motor control, sourcing, assembly, and endurance testing.
Before Doll Motors, I co-founded NVBOTS, where I led the design and production of fully automated 3D printers. At Digital Alloys, an NVBOTS spinoff, I became Director of Hardware Engineering and helped develop Joule Printing, a new metal 3D printing process. I have led technical teams, taken products from concept to production, and been named as an inventor on a few patents.

I’m a motorsport enthusiast. I follow Formula 1 and MotoGP religiously, and have witnessed the raw power of NHRA at Sonoma. I’ve had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, I love to ski, and golf when I have the time.
